The Wine

With roots stretching back centuries, Ducru-Beaucaillou has long been regarded among Bordeaux's elite estates. In recent decades the property has been carefully stewarded by the Borie family, whose sustained investment in vineyards and cellar technology has reinforced the château's reputation for consistency and excellence. Situated on deep, well-drained gravel soils, Ducru-Beaucaillou is traditionally Cabernet Sauvignon-led, producing wines of intense black-fruit concentration, crushed-stone minerality and finely knit tannins. Merlot lends plushness and roundness, while Cabernet Franc adds aromatic lift and spice. Meticulous winemaking and balanced élevage in quality oak yield wines of impressive depth, purity and extraordinary ageing potential. For me, Ducru-Beaucaillou exemplifies Saint-Julien elegance — powerful yet refined, and endlessly rewarding with time in the cellar.
