The Wine
Château Léoville Barton is one of the classic 2nd Growths from the 1855 classification. It is also one of the wine trade’s favorites, partly because of the admiration we have for Anthony Barton, the late owner, who was such a great ambassador for Bordeaux. The château is also respected for its fair pricing. We regularly go to visit on our wine tours. The family is still at the helm. It is a beautiful old château, with a lovely rose garden, and whilst it retains its classic charm, the cellars are state-of-the-art. Located in Saint-Julien, Léoville Barton is quintessentially Cabernet Sauvignon-driven. It has always been more classic and elegant in style than others, avoiding the high alcohols and heavy extractions of days gone by. Traditionally vinified and matured for almost 2 years in French oak, this 2025 vintage has depth, balance and excellent ageing potential. It’s an incredible wine for the price.
