The Wine

Gaja is the mythical winery that encapsulates the very essence of fine wine in Italy. Wine Spectator described Gaja as "the finest wines ever produced in Italy". Sorì Tildìn is the iconic single vineyard wine in Piedmont's Barbaresco, made from 100% Nebbiolo. Set on a sun-facing hilltop above the storied Costa Russi vineyard, it was named for Angelo Gaja's grandmother, Clotilde "Tildìn" Rey. The Gaja family settled in the Langhe hills in 1859, and much credit for the winery's success goes to Angelo Gaja, the King of Barbaresco, Decanter's Man of the Year 1998 and winner of Wine Spectator's Distinguished Service Award. Today Gaia Gaja and her siblings carry the torch. Only 500 cases of the 2020 were produced, making it ultra fine and rare. As availability dwindles over the years to come there is a strong chance this wine will increase in value. James Suckling awards 99 points and Robert Parker 97 points. It is surely one of the great wines of the world and will age for 20 to 30 years.
